Pineberries

The Pineberry is known to be the result of two fruits, namely the beach strawberry and the Virginia strawberry. The beach strawberry (Fragaria chiloensis) can be found in South America while the Virginia strawberry (Fragaria virginiana) can be found in North America. Pineberries are smaller than strawberries and they also look like white strawberries. The fruit flesh is colored pale, white and sometimes to a hue of soft orange and its seeds are red. It has a bit of the pineapple’s tang as part of its unique flavor.

Pineberries start green when they are young and turn white as they begin to ripen. They do not yield a lot of fruit and is mostly grown in Europe and Belize but only on a small scale. It is advised to grow pineberries in a glass house and avoid growing them under direct sunlight. If you do this, the fruits will have a pinkish hue instead of its white color characteristic.
